Privacy in push notifications

Push notifications to the Kibi Connect app on iPhone and Android are technically routed through Google's (Firebase) and Apple's notification services. To prevent content from your organization from passing through these services, Kibi Connect sends push notifications without content by default.
Info
In short: Only a neutral notice like "New message" is sent via Google and Apple. Sender, message text, task and appointment titles remain on your Kibi server in the EU. The Kibi Connect app fetches the content directly from there.
How it works#
The platform sends a notification with the title "Kibi" and a neutral notice, such as "New message" or "New task".
The Kibi Connect app on the smartphone receives the notification and loads the actual content directly from your Kibi server.
Employees see the sender and text as usual. Tapping the notification opens the relevant section in the platform, such as the chat or the task.
What employees see on the smartphone#
Messages and other notifications
Sender and text appear as usual in the notification. The app has loaded them directly from your Kibi server.
Tap
Opens the relevant section in the platform, such as the chat, the task, or the appointment.
Incoming calls
The app loads the name of the calling person from your Kibi server before the call rings.
Only neutral notices are sent via Google and Apple, for example:
New message, New reaction, New mention
New task, Update on a task, New comment
New invitation, Reminder, Update on an appointment
Missed call, New email, New post
New share, Update on a file, New share request
Setting for administrators#
Administrators set whether push notifications contain content for the entire organization. The default is off, meaning notifications without content.
Open the Administration.
Select Notifications.
In the Privacy for push notifications section: Turn Content preview in push notifications on or off.
Click Save.
Off (default)
Google and Apple only receive a neutral notice like "New message". The Kibi Connect app loads the content directly from your Kibi server.
On
Sender and message text appear directly in the push notification. This means this content passes through Google (Firebase) and Apple servers, even outside the EU.
Warning
If you enable the content preview, personal data will be transmitted via services outside the EU. Please coordinate this with your data protection officer beforehand.
Notice in the administration area#
For existing organizations, the content preview has been disabled since the update. Administrators will see the notice "Content preview in push notifications has been disabled" once on the administration homepage and on the Notifications page.
Understood
Permanently hides the notice.
Go to notification settings
Takes you directly to the setting if you want to re-enable the preview.

What is not affected#
Browser notifications
The content is end-to-end encrypted on its way to the browser. The browser's push service cannot read it.
Kibi Connect Desktop App
Notifications come via the app's own connection to your Kibi server, without Google or Apple.
Frequently asked questions#
How long are the reloaded contents available?#
The content of a push notification is available for retrieval for 7 days and is then automatically deleted. The message itself, of course, remains stored in the platform.
